Zodiac Sign-Cancer

Well my birthday is coming up...which makes me a Cancer.  I've not been particularly happy with being a Cancer, not because the astrological projections don't sync up with me, but just because of all 12 signs its the only one which is synonomous with another commonly used english word.  So whenever I say Cancer it reminds of the medical condition, which is never a good thing.  However, MSN had a list of Cancer traits since its rule over the zodiac began yesterday.  So I thought I would comment about each of the traits below:

CANCER TIDBITS

Health

Each sign has a part of the anatomy attached to it, making this the area of the body that is most sensitive to stimulation. The anatomical areas for Cancer are the breast, stomach, and the upper liver.
I do enjoy breasts and eating.  So I guess stomach is in.  I didn't know the liver had more than one parts...

Ruling Planet
The ruling planet for Cancer is the Moon. Considered representational of the feminine, the Moon rules women in general. Further, the Moon governs instincts, moods, tides, personal interests, desires, needs, magnetism, growth, the need to touch, consciousness, and fertility.
I've never mooned anyone, so this may not be me.

Color
The color of choice for Cancer is silver.
The first car I bought, which I got to pick my color on was Galaxy Silver Metalic.  And the only jewelry I own is my wedding ring, which is white gold.  So I guess this is accurate.

Gemstone
Cancer's star stone is the pearl.

Lucky Numbers
Cancer's lucky numbers are 4 and 6.
I must be half cancer, because my favorite/lucky number is 23.

Compatibility
Cancerians are most compatible with Scorpio and Pisces.
Lora is a Libra which is right before Scorpio, so this is close.

Opposite Sign
The opposite sign of Cancer is Capricorn.

The Perfect Gift
A new addition to a collection, sweets, any nice box or container, photos, silver jewelry
For anyone offering gifts, my collection of choice is shotglasses.

Likes
Relaxing near or in water, art, home-based hobbies, a good meal with friends, helping loved ones
What exactly are "home-based hobbies"?

Dislikes
Strangers, revealing of personal life, any criticism of Mom
I am a mamma's boy...

House
Natural sign of the Fourth House. This house rules home, property, a parent, emotional foundations, and the latter part of life.

Famous Cancerians
Liv Tyler, Pamela Anderson, Robin Williams, Tom Cruise, Tom Hanks
I'm not a big fan of Tom Cruise, but the rest of these people are pretty cool.

Best Travel Destination
New York City, Amsterdam, Venice, historical sites, family reunions
I have been to NYC numerous time and I would love to go to Italy, but I have only been to one family reunion.  My family just doesn't do that kind of thing.

Strengths
Compassion, emotional sensitivity, fierce protection of loved ones, tenacity

Weaknesses
Manipulative, indirect conflict, clinging to the past, insecure, packrat
I'm not sure what indirect conflict is, but I think I would be oblivious to it.  You have to be pretty direct with me.

Charismatic Marks
Medium build, round face, prominent breasts, a tendency to take charge
Are you saying I have a fat face?

Best Environment
Cancer will always be most comfortable at home, close to family, familiar things, and dear friends.

Single Tweets

I came across this article i found interesting.  Its about people who signed up for Twitter, logged on, posted one tweet and never posted again.  It reminded me that I should post more often.

16 Things that it took me over 50 years to learn

By Dave Barry (On the event of his 50th birthday)

  1. Never, under any circumstances, take a sleeping pill and a laxative on the same night.
  2. If you had to identify, in a single word, the reason why the human race has not achieved, and never will achieve, its full potential, that word would be “meetings.”
  3. There is a very fine line between “hobby: and “mental illness”.
  4. People who want to share their religious views with you almost never want to share yours with them.
  5. You should not confuse your career with your life.
  6. Nobody cares if you can’t dance well.  Just get up and dance.
  7. Never lick a steak knife.
  8. The most destructive force in the universe is gossip.
  9. You will never find anybody who can give you a clear and compelling reason why we observe daylight savings time.
  10. You should never say anything to a woman that even remotely suggests that you think she’s pregnant unless you can see an actual baby emerging from her at that moment.
  11. There comes a time when you should stop expecting other people to make a big deal about your birthday.  That time is age eleven.
  12. The one thing that unites all human beings, regardless of age, gender, religion, economic status or ethnic background, is that, deep down inside, we ALL believe that we are above average drivers.
  13. A person who is nice to you but rude to the waiter, is not a nice person.  (This is very important.  Pay attention.  It never fails.)
  14. Your friends love you anyway.
  15. Never be afraid to try something new.  Remember that a lone amateur built the Ark.  A large group of professionals built the Titanic.
  16. Final thought for the day:  Men are like fine wine... They start out as grapes, and its up to the woman to stomp the snot out of them until they turn into something acceptable to have dinner with.

*If you have ever been to Jimmy John’s sub shop you may have noticed this sign.  I agree with most of them, even though I am nowhere near 50 years old.

Bailey-The best cat in the world.  I caught him mid-yawn after a cat nap.
